This high alpha variety has a pungent aroma and clean bittering. Excellent for bitter ales and American IPA styles, and can be dramatic when dry hopped. Columbus, Tomahawk® and Zeus (CTZ) are super high alpha varieties. They share the same female parent as Nugget making them at least half sisters to Nugget. The CTZ varieties are currently used almost exclusively for beer bittering. 


Alpha Acid (AA): 14-18%

Purpose: Dual Purpose

Aroma: earthy, black pepper, licorice, curry, spicy, citrus, floral, pungent, dank & cannabis.

Beer styles: IPAAmerican Pale AleStout, Barleywine & Lager.

Substitutions: Centennial, Chinook, Nugget
