Schwarzbier | Keg King Brewing Co. Fresh Wort Kit
Schwarzbier | Keg King Brewing Co. Fresh Wort Kit
These wort kits are usually made on a Spiedel 500L Braumeister Brewery. NOTE: These kits are generally designed to add 3 litres of water to the fermentation for a 20L brew.
Yeast not included.
DESCRIPTION
The Keg King Schwarzbier is a new fresh wort kit that allows homebrewers to create a German-style dark lager. The term "Schwarzbier" literally means "black beer" in German, and the kit is designed to produce a brew that is true to this style.
Despite its deep, dark colour, which can range from very dark brown to almost black, a Schwarzbier is known for being surprisingly light-bodied and crisp, setting it apart from heavier stouts and porters. The kit is based on a traditional recipe that balances smooth, roasted malt flavours with a clean, dry finish. You can expect subtle notes of dark chocolate and coffee from the roasted malts, which are complemented by a low to moderate hop bitterness.
As a fresh wort kit, it's a convenient option for homebrewers as the wort has already been professionally brewed. This means you can skip the mashing and boiling processes, and simply pour the wort into your fermenter, add the yeast, and let it ferment.
Dry hopping isn't traditional in this style.
Ferment this one with either Bluestone Stuttgart, SafLager W-34/70 or Mangrove Jack's M76 Bavarian Lager.
OG : 1.052 (after adding 3L pre-boiled, cooled water)
Est ABV: 5.5% - 6.2%
Colour: 40 EBC
IBU: 12
Malts: Ale, Carafa T2, Acidulated, Special W
Hops: Warrior, Hersbrucker, Mittelfruh.
Yeast: Bluestone Yeast Stuttgart or Saflager W-34/70
