Helles is actually its own style of beer first brewed in Munich in 1894 to do battle with the growing popularity of Pilsner style beers. Traditionally brewed to be very pale golden yellow, more malty and less bitter, Helles is the right choice for lager beer drinkers that prefer a softer, dry finish rather than the crisp, assertive bitterness of Pilsner.

When you're drinking Helles, you'll notice a well-rounded balance between sips. There are no strange or dominating flavour spikes, no aggressive bitter component and not even the slightest of haze in the appearance. Helles delivers malt forward satisfaction with the exact amount of hop spice perfection to balance the experience without sweetness. The Matt’s Imperial Stout kit is the result of a 24-hour triple-iteration mashing process. This stacks up the high starting gravity points and delivers a stout so potent you can barrel-age it for years and keep coming back to see how it evolves over time.

Cold Steep Infusion

Our Dark Rice Lager, Irish Draught Stout and Oatmeal Stout kits use an overnight cold-steeped specialty malt infusion to deliver dark colour and deep, rich flavours without harsh astringency. You’ll notice the smoothness in every glass.

Hop Stands

XPA, West Coast IPA, NEIPA and Red IPA are all kept hop-forward in flavour but still balanced, without harsh or bitter astringency. The extra time and carefully calculated hop additions are all part of our brewer’s attention to detail, so the final results have impact that will keep you coming back for more. The hop stand is a brilliant way to preserve hop oils and keep the aroma exactly where we want it… in the beer!
