Phosphoric acid is a weak, inorganic acid that is commonly used in the beer industry for sanitation and pH reduction. Paracetic acid has a higher oxidizing potential than phosphoric acid and thus, brings true microbial death to unwanted microorganisms. Both acids work in synergy to kill microorganisms with the phosphoric acid catalyzing the effects of peracetic acid.
